Have you received an interview call from the ISB? Congratulations. The face-to-face interview is the last step in your journey towards getting the admission letter from the Indian School of Business (ISB). However, clearing the interview round is not as easy as it sounds. You need thorough preparation and a strong strategy to make it through this round. One of the best ways to perform well in the interview is by researching the commonly asked questions and being prepared with the possible answers. To begin with, given below are 5 commonly asked ISB interview questions and tips on how to answer them.

Q1. Why do you want to do an MBA? Why choose ISB?

The interview panel will be curious to know the reasons behind your decision to apply to ISB or MBA specifically. A response to this question will require you to think about why you’ve applied for an MBA course at ISB. Try to be thorough about why exactly you want to pursue an MBA and how ISB fits into the picture. Besides, be prepared to tell them what your career goals are, and how an MBA helps you achieve them? Also, talk about what it is about ISB that makes you believe it is the right institution to pursue an MBA.

Q2. What are your goals post MBA?

While answering this question, try to clearly articulate your long-term and medium-term career goals. Your answer should highlight how the MBA course you are pursuing is essential to tread towards your goals. Be specific with the job positions or industries that interest you and clearly convince the panel that pursuing an MBA from ISB will be an asset to your career.

Q3. What will you do if you aren’t selected?

Tell the panel that you’ll come back next year, if that’s what your plan is. However, if you’ve applied to some other universities, you can mention that as well. However, try to convince the panel that if not selected, you will work more, improve your skills and come back.

Q4. Tell us about one of your weaknesses?

The key to answering this question is to understand what the interviewer is trying to find out. Here the panel wants to check how well you know about your own personality.  However, they not only want to know what your weaknesses are, but also to assess what you have done to improve those areas.

Q5. Do you have any questions for us?

You can expect this question at the end of every interview. Don’t just say no and walk out. Take this opportunity to gain insights about things that you are not clear about. If there are alumnis present, you can ask questions related to their experience with the MBA program, or if you want clarity regarding the course or the college life, you can use the opportunity to clear that as well.
