GRE-for-MBA

In the recent trends, it is observed that more students are inclining towards business schools with their Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score. GRE for MBA is making a mark and giving a tough competition to Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) with respect to seeking admissions in business schools. GMAT is regarded as the traditional standard entry test to B-schools at an International level.

Dawn Piacentino, Director of communication and services for the GRE Program at Educational Testing Service (ETS) said, “The GRE revised General Test is the only admissions test that is accepted by graduate and business school programs worldwide, giving test takers more opportunities for success.”

ETS, the conducting and regulating body of GRE, claimed that, for the testing year ending June 30, 2015, the number of GRE aspirants targeting for business and management studies grew by more than 9% over the previous testing year. And almost twice since the testing year ending June 30, 2012.

GRE for MBA

In 2015, one of the leading educational institutes surveyed and concluded that 90% of the 222 business schools across the US and UK let aspirants submit their GRE scores to apply for MBA in place of GMAT, which is a big leap considering that only 24% of the business schools had accepted GRE until 2009. Further, compared to 2014, 42% of admissions officers in 2015 reported an increase in the number of applicants submitting scores of GRE for MBA.

The main highlight of GRE for MBA is mostly the takers are from the non-management background. It means, they belong to a Science educational background. To support the test takers, who are opting for management studies as their Master degree course ETS provides a comparison tool to compare their GRE score in respect to GMAT score

GRE vs. GMAT

Taking GRE opens up the doors to establishing higher accomplishments in education and gives an edge to a candidate’s career advancement. Through GRE you can go for higher technical or techno-managerial or managerial studies. It is not confined to managerial studies as GMAT does. Along with GRE you can start your doctoral program with any specialization.

During the course of the GRE test , you can change, modify or skip questions but you can’t do the same in GMAT test. The scores of GRE range on a 130-170 scale each for verbal and quant. The GRE Analytical writing assessment (AWA) section is measured on a scale of a 0-6 mark, where GMAT total score is 800 comprising verbal and quant. Again the AWA section is evaluated on the 0-6 scale.
