The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) has two types of tests: GRE General Test and GRE Subject Test. The Subject test is taken by students who wish to show their competency in a particular field or subject and want to showcase their subject-specific knowledge and gain admission into a specialised graduate or doctoral program. The test helps the applicant to stand out from others by emphasizing on the core subject knowledge in a specific branch of education.

The cost of the exam is US $150 which comes to approximately INR. 11350in terms of Indian Rupees. (Conversion rates as of 2 July 2020, 1 USD = 75.5 INR)

The GRE Subject Test is a paper-delivered test, and one can take this test in paper delivered centers worldwide up to three times out of twelve months:

Test duration & Score Validity
The GRE Subject test is a multiple-choice test which lasts for two hours and 30 minutes, it has no time-limited sections. The GRE Subject Test is scored between 200-900 marks with 10 mark increments for correct answers. The final score is delivered within five to six weeks after the exam is taken. The score will be valid for the next five years.
